We do not collect personally identifiable information (for example, name, address, phone number, email address) from users, regardless of age, unless you provide it to us.

When you send an email message to info@54.224.199.193, you may be sending personal information. In these cases, we retain the information only to respond to your request. We do not share this information with any other organization or entity.

If you contribute data to our repository or if you contact us directly for data submission, we capture the contact information you provide and use it to respond to your comments, requests, and inquiries, to request additional information regarding your submission if needed, and to notify you when your data are accessioned. This information will be maintained for future communications, but to the maximum extent of the law, is not provided to any other organization or entity.

We notify Data Contributors via email when data are accessioned on our Website. We may contact you to send you newsletters, service updates, and occasional requests for user surveys. If you wish to opt out of notification, please contact us.

To subscribe to our mailing list, use the form at the footer of this page.  In order to subscribe, you must provide your email address and, optionally, your name. We do not share this information with any other organization or entity.  Please contact us to unsubscribe from our mailing list.

As part of standard internet practice, we collect the standard web log information such as IP address, date/time of access, type of browser and operating system when you visit our site. We use IP addresses to analyze trends, track usage of system features and tools, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use for reporting and sponsorship purposes. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

We share aggregated demographic information with our sponsors. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. We only share this information so that we can secure funding to continue providing this site free of charge.

A small number of programs on our web pages use session cookies. Cookies are used for your convenience to maintain “state” between pages and to coordinate search results from multiple programs within a session. The cookies disappear from your machine (expire) after your session ends. We do not maintain a historical database of cookies, nor does it use any other tracking method to profile users.

Terms of Use

This website is the property of SESAR², part of the IEDA Data Facility, and housed at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. SESAR² maintains the exclusive right to determine terms and conditions for use of this website.

This website is designed for both public and academic use. In order to access certain features of the SESAR² and MySESAR websites, you must have an ORCID (recommended) or GeoPass ID (login system for IEDA). The email address and password you use to create a GeoPass account can be used to log in to multiple IEDA webpages.

You may use our systems and services only for lawful purposes. Accordingly, you may only submit or register content on our site if you have the right to do so. By registering samples with SESAR² you warrant that i) the samples are under your ownership or you have been given permission by the owner to register the samples with SESAR², and ii) that registering these samples do not violate or breach any of these Terms of Use. Additionally, the burden of maintaining content, such as corrections to a sample metadata or updating external links, falls on you, the user.

In the case of non-compliance or misuse of services, SESAR² reserves the right to disable access without notice.

Please contact us if you would like to delete your GeoPass account or any of your content.

We make no claims to accuracy of the sample metadata. We ask that you notify us immediately of any contributions that contain objectionable metadata.

SESAR² is supported by the National Science Foundation and is part of the Interdisciplinary Earth Data Alliance (IEDA).
